Dear Downing, We're nearly halfway there! The weather's looking pretty good too. Here's a few notices and bits of information for you.1. **CORRECTION** Just to clarify from the last notice on exam warning, I want to make clear that exam warning does not inflate the original grading given and does not make it to examiners. It is used too flag up problems in advance and are later used in appeal process.2. NUS Referendum in College We've been having some discussions on the JCR committee about whether the undergraduate body of students at Downing should take an official stance on the issue of wh...

Dear Downing, Apologies this is coming out so late into week 2, but I have been busy attending a conference over the last few days so I have not had as much time as I would have liked to sit down and do this. Last week I attended a number of meetings and there a few follow up points I wanted to let you know about.1. CUSU Council Last week at CUSU Council, I voted for all of the motions that were under discussion, except the budget for CUSU which was pushed to the next meeting. Dear Downing, Welcome back to Easter term! I hope that you've had a great break from Cambridge. Most of the contents of this email is information that I've received in a number college committee meetings that is especially relevant to undergrads.1. This space is intended for those who like to have the option of working outside in the sun. If you can't manage to get a space, remember that there are plenty of chairs and tables that surround the Sunken Garden, by the Howard buildin...

Hello everyone, Welcome back, I hope you had a restful holiday. This is (probably) the only email you will receive from welfare this term, so make sure you have a look to see what your Downing welfare team has in store for you this term. 1) Anonymous messaging Anonymous messaging is finally here! You can message your welfare officers and any other member of the JCR by going to the new website https://www.jcr.dow.cam.ac.uk/committee and clicking "contact anonymously" in the person’s bio you wish to message. Please don’t hesitate to use this service, especially for welfare. As your welfare offi...

Dear Downing, Just a few quick bits of info before Week 1 kicks fully into gear:1. Team First Launch Night @ Downing Bar - Sunday 18th, 8pm We're partnering ourselves with Team First (as lots of JCR's are starting to do) so that students can get discounts and we can raise more funds. All you need to do is come to the bar, download the app and scan a QR code. That will make £1 for the JCR, for every person who does that. The more people who sign up and use the app, the more money the JCR can raise, which can be used on stuff that matters to students. Members of the JCR committee will also be ar...
